Wildfire Training in the Black Hills

Training at the Black Hills Interagency Fire School

 

 

SDPB – A week-long school for firefighter trainees is held annually at the Box Elder Job Corps Center near Nemo, South Dakota.

The curriculum is a combination of classroom and field work.

Students learn about weather, topography, fuels, and other factors that can influence wildfire behavior.

31 students attended the school in May, 2018.
