System will detect persistent growing heat sources
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Thermo-sensing cameras were installed in Alaska to help the fire department locate, analyze and monitor wildfires, officials said.
The security-like thermography camera is meant to help the Anchorage Fire Department respond to fires faster by providing a more precise location, The Alaska Energy Desk reported Friday.
The $12,000 camera is now one of two installed in Anchorage, officials said. The first was installed at the Anchorage Fire Department.
