Reno Interstate Reopened after Wildfire

Wildfire briefly closed I-80

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Fire crews have snuffed out a small wildland blaze that briefly shut down a westbound lane of U.S. Interstate 80 in west Reno.

No structures were damaged but two NV Energy power poles burned in the fire that broke out late Tuesday afternoon near the I-80 exit for Robb Drive.

The interstate on-ramp and right lane were closed as the fire burned between two apartment complexes on Sharlands Drive but the flames were under control by 7 p.m. and all closures were lifted Tuesday night.

The Reno Fire Department said Wednesday the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Two people were seen fleeing the area.
