This class examines some of the wildland firefighting skills and considerations structural firefighters need to be safe and effective when performing an initial attack on a wildland urban interface (WUI) fire in their jurisdiction and when interacting with state and federal wildland firefighter agencies.
Wildland firefighting tactics are described and compared with structural firefighting.
Firefighter safety and risk management in the WUI and wildland tactics such as direct attack, indirect attack, parallel attack, and backfiring are addressed.
