Santa Barbara County Wildfire Partially Contained

Fire began in the El Capitan Canyon

GAVIOTA, Calif. (AP) — Firefighters have 20% containment of a 443-acre (179-hectare) wildfire on the south Santa Barbara County coast as gusty winds are blowing in parts of Southern California.

The fire erupted Thursday in the El Capitan Canyon area 20 miles (32 kilometers) west of Santa Barbara.

Campgrounds were evacuated for a while and U.S. 101 was briefly shut down.

The National Weather Service says gusty north to northwest winds are expected in Southern California through Sunday, especially across Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties.

Weak to moderate Santa Ana winds are expected Sunday night through Tuesday.
