Man Arrested for Starting Florida Wildfire

Wildfire burned about three acres of woodland

BRONSON, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve arrested a Florida man for intentionally starting a wildfire.

A Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services new release says officers arrested a 19-year-old man on Tuesday and charged him with intentionally burning land, a third-degree felony.

The Florida Forest Service found the small wildfire in unincorporated Levy County to be suspicious and contacted the Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement to investigate. An agency spokeswoman says the fire was started with matches and burned about three acres of woodlands. No property was destroyed.

A motive for starting the fire wasn’t immediately released.
