Lake Lure resident finds flag is safe after being evacuated

LAKE LURE, N.C. (WTVD) – A woman who was forced to evacuate due to the wildfires in Western North Carolina found a wonderful surprise when she returned home.

In a post to the WLOS Facebook page, Shannon Wilson said she was evacuated for seven days as crews worked to contain fires around Lake Lure. When she was able to go back home, she found that firefighters had taken her American flag down from her flag pole and placed it behind her glass door for protection.
