Evacuations Ordered for McDowell County (NC) Wildfire

Firefighters were on the scene of a wildfire in northern McDowell County Tuesday afternoon. Evacuations were ordered for the area around the fire.

As of 4:15 p.m., emergency personnel were managing the fire on Armstrong Creek Road off N.C. Highway 226 A in the Turkey Cove community of McDowell County, according to McDowell County Emergency Services.

At 6 p.m., McDowell County Emergency Management issued an evacuation order for all residences on Wild Acres Road off of N.C. Highway 226 A near Little Switzerland due to the wildfire. The evacuation order included Wild Acres Retreat.

the fire is south of Wild Acres Road and north of Armstrong Creek Road, emergency services said.

The fire is estimated at 75 acres with 0% containment.
