When Extreme is the New Normal

The Sherpa Fire burns late Thursday evening and early Friday morning June 16 and 17, 2016 off El Capitan Canyon Rd near El Capitan and Goleta, CA in Santa Barbara County. The fire was over 1,200 acres and 0% contained.

Wildland firefighting is one of the most dangerous and demanding professions in the world. Firefighters battle grueling, life-threatening situations and go where most people would never dare to go. As fires become more extreme, it’s essential that the equipment that firefighters rely on evolve to meet their new needs. This is a new era of wildland firefighting.
