BOZEMAN, Montana – Three firefighters escaped serious injury while working on a wildfire in Montana on Saturday.

The Great Falls Tribune reported that three firefighters with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation were caught be a rapidly advancing front.

The three deployed their fire shelters as the fire began to burn through their area.

“It did burn over them,” Kristin Sleeper, a spokesperson for the state Department of Natural Resources and Conservation told Great Falls.

After the fire had passed, the firefighters were able to safely walk out of the fire area and were transported to Bozeman Health for further medical evaluation.

The firefighters were released and will return home to their families.
