Winds Bring Fire Danger to Southern California

Red flag warnings

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Fire danger is high as dry, warm winds again blow through Southern California.

Red flag warnings for critical fire weather conditions are in place Sunday from Ventura County south to San Diego County.

The National Weather Service says gusts could hit 50 mph (80 kph) in some mountain areas. Temperatures in greater Los Angeles could top 90 degrees (32 Celsius).

Fire officials have deployed additional resources to be able to respond quickly in case blazes break out.

Forecasters say fire weather will return to Northern California starting midweek.

Hundreds of homes were destroyed this fall by large wildfires across the state.
