New Wildfires Grow in Wyoming

Wildfire has burned at least 4.7 square miles

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — About 25 rural residences in western Wyoming have been forced to evacuate because of a growing wildfire in the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

The fire has burned about 4.7 square miles (12 square kilometers) since it started Saturday. Earlier, two recreationists were overtaken by the fire and took refuge in a creek. Officials say they were both taken to a burn center in Salt Lake City where their conditions weren’t immediately available.

Elsewhere, a fire reported late Saturday night has burned nearly three square miles (7.7 square kilometers) of forest land along the Colorado and Wyoming state line.
